379 King St, Newtown.
One of the few pizzerias in Sydney accredited with the AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana or True Neapolitan Pizza Association), Gigi’s is a paradise for pizza enthusiasts all around Sydney – most importantly, they’re plant based. Owner Marc Mattino creates incredible wood fired pizzas topped with local products and some key ingredients from Italy. Choose from a range of toppings, including the classic ‘Marinara Tradizionale’, a simple combination of san marzano tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and oregano, or go the fancy route and try the ‘Patate’ with thinly sliced roasted potatoes, garlic, rosemary, black truffle pate and olive oil.

Established in 1974 by Arthur Premetis, the pizzeria’s humble origins have led to over six locations all over Sydney. The traditional and gourmet pizzas can be customised, allowing diners to experiment with different flavours and styles. Offering several vegan pasta and pizza options on the menu, Arthur’s Pizza offers great value for money without compromising on taste.
2/205 Victoria Rd, Marrickville
The Marrickville based pizzeria edges away from the traditional, and opts for purely Australian ingredients for their delicious pizzas. What makes the pizza special is the use of seasonal produce and yeast-free sourdough base. Expect funky toppings that change regularly, like fermented habanero, black garlic puree, wood-fired carrot puree, roasted fennel and fried parsley. The limited menu includes five or six offerings, along with simple salads and a couple of delectable desserts.

Championing the cause for slow fermented pizza bases, Mad Pizza’s Romano base takes no less than 72 hours from scratch, producing a dough that’s packed with flavour, but lighter and easier to digest. We’re big fans of the indulgent Vegan Suprema with a tomato base, vegan ‘nozzarella cheese’, veggies, Suzy Spoon’s vegan sausage, and basil. Conveniently located in Darlinghurst and Potts Point, the pizzas are available for takeaway and delivery within the CBD.

With five locations around Sydney and home delivery available in several locations, Made in Italy is an easy choice for those looking for plant based pizza in the city and surrounding suburbs.

Easily recognised as the North Shore’s favourite pasta and pizza spot, Borruso’s has been fulfilling cravings for over 25 years. Known for their handmade pizza and pasta dough (the vegan version has just four ingredients), their extensive plant based menu has been carefully curated to ensure maximum flavour and variety. The vegan Banana Flambe dessert is a must try.

Since 2006, the Balmain based institution has made itself known for one thing and one thing only – authentic, Italian style pizza with fuss free toppings on a handmade base. Their simple vegan offerings include a rich tomato sauce, plenty of ‘nozzarella’, and a variety of delicious, seasonal toppings.
Rosso Pomodoro recently opened a second spot in Bondi.
Shop 2, 338 Pitt Street
A coffee roastery and woodfire pizza spot, the team at Macchiato are immensely passionate about both, and dedicated to bringing authentic Italian cuisine to Sydney. The menu is extensive, with several salads, mains, pasta and pizza offerings available. Diners have the option of adding vegan cheese to any pizza base and customising it to their liking – we’re eyeing the Ortolana with a pumpkin base, capsicum, onion, mushroom, spinach and vegan mozzarella.
77 York St Sydney
Focusing on quality and freshly sourced produce, Vapiano is all about eating what you enjoy, while considering the environmental impact of eating locally sourced ingredients. They also make most of their ingredients including pasta and pizza dough, pesto, bolognese sauce and salad dressing in house. With the option of customising dishes, diners can opt for vegan cheese on their pastas and pizzas for plant based options.

With a dedicated vegan pizza section and locations all around Sydney, I love Pizza is for everyone to enjoy. The menu offers delectable pizza toppings, with everything from house made pesto, to vegan aioli available. We’re particularly intrigued by the Vegan BBQ Jackfruit pizza, featuring pulled BBQ jackfruit, shallots, cherry tomatoes, vegan cheese and a creamy aioli.
